Oscar winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh has a new big-screen adventure on the horizon called Logan Lucky. The film features an all-star cast and finds the director back in the heist game – Soderbergh made a huge impression on moviegoers (and at the box office) with his Ocean’s Eleven trilogy. This one centers on a con game set during a NASCAR race.
Written and Rebecca Blunt, the film features the electric ensemble cast of Channing Tatum (who appeared in Magic Mike and Side Effects for Soderbergh), Adam Driver (Paterson), Seth MacFarlane (A Million Ways to Die in the West), Riley Keough (American Honey), Katie Holmes (Touched with Fire), Katherine Waterson (Alien: Covenant), Dwight Yoakam (Panic Room), Sebastian Stan (The Bronze), Brian Gleeson (Assassin’s Creed), Macon Blair (Green Room), Jack Quaid (The Hunger Games), Hilary Swank (The Homesman) and, in an about-faced turn, Daniel Craig (Spectre).
The synopsis reads: “Trying to reverse a family curse, brothers Jimmy (Channing Tatum) and Clyde Logan (Adam Driver) set out to execute an elaborate robbery during the legendary Coca-Cola 600 race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.” Bleecker Street will release Logan Lucky on August 18th.
