Comic book fans have been aching to see the first reactions from David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, set to hit theater this August. There has been plenty of details released from the cast and crew, discussing the wild performances and unique style that occupy the film. Follow that, it was only a matter of time before someone was able to get the first peek at the secretive project. Considering the reception that Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice received after hitting theaters back in March, the early good reviews that Suicide Squad has seen is no doubt reassuring for DC and Warner Bros.
The most recent comic books films, those being Dawn of Justice and Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, both had strong receptions during test screenings, but in the end the latter’s outcome was the only one to actually payoff. So, hopefully, Suicide Squad will have the same fate. According to Comic Book and Twitter, the film’s test screenings took place at Century 25 and XD in Union City, California.
The few audience members who were lucky enough to see the film later tweeted about their opinions, with one feeling that Suicide Squad should have started the DC Cinematic Universe, rather than Dawn of Justice. Others commented on how it met “expectations,” as well as strong compliments about the performances from Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) and Jared Leto (The Joker).

The film’s release is only a few months away now, so it won’t be too long before the public will be able to get their hands on the crazy ride that the trailers have been advertising. No matter how it turns out in the end, though, it will definitely be a very different comic book film than what we have seen before, especially if the cast members’ comments come true.
Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
