After last year’s Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro, the director behind Pan’s Labyrinth and The Devil’s Backbone, seems to be returning to the genre where many fans may agree he shines the most, with the gothic horror, Crimson Peak. Starring Mia Wasikowska (Stoker) as young author Edith Cushing, the story follows her as she is torn between the love for her childhood friend and a mysterious stranger. The events sweep Cushing away to the haunted setting seen in the film’s first image. Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) also stars alongside Tom Hiddleston (Thor) and Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim). The dark, eerie image of Chastain above gives a sense of mystery and grandeur, characteristic of gothic stories. Crimson Peak is slated for an October 16, 2015 release.
