In just under a year, Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur will hit theaters featuring rising star Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim, TV’s Sons of Anarchy) in the titular role. Today, we have our first look at him in a new spread featured in Entertainment Weekly.
Not only do we get a sneak peak at the King, but we also get a look at his just-as-distinguished sword, Excalibur. Many of you might remember that not too long ago, King Arthur was brought forth to life in the 2004 Antoine Fuqua film starring Clive Owen and Keira Knightley. But as is the case in Hollywood, and most notably the Spider-Man films, the years between franchise reboots doesn’t matter.
This time around, Guy Ritchie sits in the director’s seat, and if his Sherlock Holmes films are any indication of what we might expect, it might be time to get excited. The film’s cast also includes Eric Bana (Lone Survivor) and Jude Law (Spy). You can see more pictures of Hunnam below.
Hunnam seems to have filled out for the role just fine. His golden goatee and majestic sword give hints of what we can expect from King Arthur.
Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur is set for release on July 22, 2016.
