Yesterday brought the release of the first official trailer for the upcoming Elton John biopic film, Rocketman. Images and teaser clips were shown for it before but this is the first full trailer insinuating more plots.
The trailer shows the film’s appealing visuals with crisp cinematography and vibrant colors. The most notable parts of the trailer, aside from Taron Egerton (who is portraying the musician) singing Rocketman, are the elaborate costumes worn by the Welsh actor. They reflect the same costumes John wore during his live performances and express his singing personality.
Rocketman will focus on a fantastical depiction of John’s rise to fame in the world of music, his issues with drugs, and partnership to Bernie Taupin. Contrary to most biopics, which tend to take the reality of events within the lives of those depicted and bend the facts, this film will embrace the fantasy in the story. Alongside Egerton as the iconic pop singer will be Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, and Bryce Dallas Howard. Paramount Pictures’ much-awaited project will be able to see the film when it releases in theaters on the 24th of May in the UK and on the 31st of May in the US. Rocketman is directed by Dexter Fletcher and written by Lee Hall. The aforementioned trailer can be watched below.
