First Full Trailer Released For Latest ‘Hunger Games’ Spinoff, ‘Sunrise On The Reaping’

The games are about to begin. The first full trailer for upcoming The Hunger Games prequel, Sunrise On The Reaping, has just dropped online.

Taking place 24 years before Katniss Everdeen entered the Hunger Games, Sunrise On The Reaping follows a young Haymitch Abernathy, a contestant from District 12 competing in the 50th annual Hunger Games. After being picked to compete, Haymitch has to adjust quickly to the world of Panem, and learn how to carefully navigate the harsh and unforgiving political climate, forged by those who run the games.

Joseph Zada gets the top billing slot for Sunrise, playing the young Haymitch Abernathy. Longtime fans will recall none other than Woody Harrelson portraying Haymitch in the original stretch of films, appearing as him from 2012’s The Hunger Games right up to 2015’s Mockingjay- Part 2. The trailer doesn’t shy away from showing Zada slip into the role, with mannerisms and even an accent to match that of Harrelson’s previous portrayal of the character.

Joining Zada is an all-star cast, with other stars like Mckenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Ben Wang, Elle Fanning, Kieran Culkin, and many others.

Deadline noted that, much like its predecessors, the book that Sunrise is based on was a smash hit upon its debut. It was able to become the highest debut for any book within the series, with its first week seeing a whopping 1.5 million copies sold worldwide, beating out all the other books in the series.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping hits theaters November 20th. Check out the trailer below.
