Finn Wolfhard And Billy Bryk Set To Write ‘Idle Hands’ Remake

Actor Finn Wolfhard is widening his résumé when it comes to working behind the camera. He is lined up to write a remake of 1999’s Idle Hands.

Idle Hands was a horror/comedy that saw a 17-year-old stoner longing for his next-door neighbor develop an unusual affliction in his right hand; it becomes possessed by a demon.

Wolfhard is slated for screenwriting alongside Billy Bryk. Screenrant notes that the two worked together before on 2023’s Hell Of A Summer. Both of them headlined the film, on top of writing and directing together.

Variety, who reported on the news initially, also stated that both Bryk and Wolfhard are in consideration to direct. However, there’s no word if it’s been set as of yet.

Currently attached to the film as a producer is Jason Reitman. Son of director Ivan Reitman, Jason Reitman has written and directed films like Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Saturday Night, and Thank You For Smoking.

Both Bryk and Wolfhard appeared in Saturday Night, which debuted earlier this year. Wolfhard worked with Reitman before that, as well, when he was cast as one of the main leads of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Wolfhard returned for this year’s sequel, Frozen Empire, while Reitman stayed on to write and produce.
