Finale Of Popular YouTube Series ‘Chicken Shop Date’ Hits Theaters

Following Amelia Dimoldenberg’s announcement of the ending of Chicken Shop Date, for one night only, the YouTube interview show’s coda, Chicken Shop Date: The Final Series, is hitting the cinemas.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 10 theaters across the UK, Ireland, and Paris will be showing the film on Nov. 24. It contains all 6 episodes of The Final Series but with attunements for the silver screen, plus exclusive material, and culminating in the final unreleased episode, making “one cinematic experience”.

There will also be invite-only premieres beforehand: in London on Nov. 16 and in New York on Nov. 19. The final episode will eventually hit YouTube on Nov. 27.

Amelia Dimoldenberg has been interviewing celebrities and cultural sensations (among, Central Cee, Jack Harlow, KSI and more) in fried chicken shops since 2014. The show is known for its dry humor and awkward celebrity dates that challenge traditional interview formats.

Chicken Shop Date has been a massive success, expanding beyond YouTube onto the red carpets and entertainment industries. “It’s just proven that these YouTube shows can really expand and become bigger than anyone even really imagined,” entertainment journalist Megan Bull said to BBC in September.

The end of the long-running series won’t be the end of Amelia Dimoldenberg’s career as a public figure. Her production company’s Dimz Inc. Academy has already run its second program, which offered 15 young people “hands-on media training, industry mentorship and paid work placements across four weeks” the past summer.

“Young people across the UK deserve so much better and the timing to act could not be more urgent,” she wrote in Big Issue.
