The latest, and final, trailer has arrived for X-Men: Apocalypse and finds our favorite mutants in a heap of trouble faced against possibly the greatest foe yet – that would be Apocalypse (the world’s first mutant), portrayed under a thick coat of make-up by Ex Machina star Oscar Isaac. Bryan Singer returns in the director’s chair from a screenplay credited to Simon Kinberg (Fantastic Four). The last X-Men outing was the Oscar nominated all-star team-up X-Men: Days of Future Past.
The trailer, with its chillingly somber mood, posits Oscar winning superstar Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique front and center, seemingly tackling more of a leadership-type following the past two films where the characters alliances have been eagerly fraught with tension and unease. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender again return as Professor X and Magneto, respectively. As does Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver). New recruits for X-Men: Apocalypse, aside from Apocalypse himself, include rising young actors Sophie Turner (as Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (as Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (as Storm) and Kodhi Smit-McPhee (as Nightcrawler).
The latest trailer also offers a slight tease for one of the X-Men teams most beloved characters. Find out who and check out the final trailer below. X-Men: Apocalypse arrives in theaters on May 27th.
