Filming To Start This November For ‘Venom 2’

According to Production Weekly, filming for the Venom sequel will start on November 25th. After the failure of The Amazing Spider-Man series, Sony decided to use their character in a deal with Disney for Spider-Man to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe up until the recent fallout.

Sony focused their view on other Spider-Man licensed characters still available under the company, beginning with 2018’s Venom last year. Although the film wasn’t well-received critically, financially it did really well in the box office and broke the record for highest grossing opening weekend for an October release. Even Amy Pascal stated back in June that the Venom sequel was underway, adding more speculation of the eventual sequel.

As far as casting goes, Tom Hardy will be returning as the symbiote antihero Venom alongside Michelle Williams as Anne Weying and Woody Harrelson as the main villain Carnage, who appeared in mid-credit scene. It’s been a roller coaster for Spider-Man fans thanks to Disney’s loss of the character’s rights, but it hasn’t all been cloudy days, as Andy Serkis will be taking over the director’s helm.

The door is now open for Spider-Man to join Hardy’s Venom on screen, possibly even in a Spider-Verse sequel if Sony agrees to it. One thing is for certain: Sony is looking to introduce their own cinematic universe starring Tom Hardy and Tom Holland, hopefully leading to new and exciting endeavors for years to come.
