Fantastic Four: First Steps had a fantastic opening weekend with $118 million domestically and another $100 million overseas, taking first for the domestic top 10, making it the 37th Marvel film to do so. First Steps actually landed slightly lower than the initial first hopeful estimates, just as Superman did upon hitting theaters.

Marvel’s first family is also still facing strong competition with Warner Bros. Superman, which in its third week is sitting in the second spot with upwards of $24 million more in gross, still flying high. Jurassic World Rebirth hangs on to the top 3 with $13 million in its fourth week, also contributing to Marvel’s challengers.

Warner Bros. also takes fourth on the charts with F1, bringing in an additional $6.2 million in its fifth week, absolutely crushing Paramount’s latest Smurfs revival attempt in its second week, only earning $5.4 million. Smurfs did eek out a win past I Know What You Did Last Summer, which took a much sharper fall than expected, likely due to being on the tail end of the early horror over saturation of the spring, only seeing $5.1 million in its second week.

How To Train Your Dragon saw $2.8 million in its seventh week, landing at seven on the box office chart. A24’s Eddington clings on as a well-performing indie, even with a sharp decline, landing in eighth with $1.66 million.

Saiyaara, an international film, took ninth place with $1.4 million in its second week for a domestic release.

From Sony Pictures Classics’ newcomer Oh Hi! bombs, landing in tenth with $1.1 million for its opening against an $11.3 million budget.

Elio falls off the charts in week six, pushing the sleeper hit hope further back, while Lilo & Stitch finally take their leave from the top 10 after ten weeks dominating sales.
