The new trailer for the next installment of the Harry Potter prequels has just come out revealing Mads Mikkelsen as the new face of Gellert Grindelwald. The antagonist to the previous film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is back with more mischievous plans up his sleeves.
The full cast for the third installment of the Fantastic Beasts franchise has been revealed in the new trailer. Most notably, Eddie Redmayne will reprise his role as the magizoologist Newton Artemis Scarmender, or Newt for friends, Professor Dumbledore will be played by Jude Law, and Mads Mikkelsen will be replacing Johnny Depp as the machiavellian antagonist Gellert Grindelwald.
For those who are arriving late to the franchise, the story encircling these powerful wizards serves as a prequel to the popular Harry Potter saga as it explores in-depth the life of Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore before becoming headmaster of Hogwarts.
For those who are familiar with the story, it will be easier to follow the plot outlined by J. K. Rowling’s novels, as it can get a little convoluted. In previous episodes, Dumbledore and Grindelwald had made a pact in their youth to never duel. A pact that cannot magically be broken. Thus Dumbledore hires the introverted Newt Scamander who specializes in magical creatures to thwart Grindelwald’s plans to start a wizarding world war.
Dumbledore’s deep voice can be heard at the beginning of the trailer explaining, “The world as we know it, is coming undone. Grindelwald is pulling it apart with hate.” With help of the aforementioned specialist in Magical creatures, his indispensable assistant, a wizard from a long lineage, a schoolteacher, and a muggle the Professor of Witchcraft and Wizardry will once again fight to the end to stop Grindelwald from achieving his twisted vision of a world dominated by wizards. Fans of the franchise will be delighted to see the trailer reveal sequences of Quiddich games, bizarre creatures, the magical Room of Requirement, and most shocking, the House of Hufflepuff gets awarded its first three points in movie history.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will come out on April 15, 20222.
