Everything ‘The Marvels’ Tells Us About the ‘Captain Marvel’ Sequel As Well As the Future of the MCU

Disney and Marvel made slew of announcements this week with their latest sizzle reel, which celebrated the past and the future of the MCU. However, while the dates and footage was huge news, the biggest news arguably came with the title for Captain Marvel 2. Titled simply: The Marvels.

This gives Marvel fans a true idea what the sequel to the 2019 film will be about (yeah Captain Marvel came out in 2019, feels like a decade ago). The title the Marvels reflects the amount of superhero marvels in this movie.

The TV Series Ms. Marvel will be out in late 2021 and stars newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, while Brie Larson as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel will return in addition to Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau(aka probably Spectrum, Photon, Daylight, a different Captain Marvel).

The film could bring together three different female heroes in there own film with their own arcs. It could be a hugely important film even more so than the first.

Nia DaCosta(Candyman) will direct while Megan McDonnell, who was a staff writer on WandaVision has written the script. There are a lot of talented people behind and in front of the camera on this one and it leads to the future of the MCU being more focused on building the world out.

In addition to this title, the next Black Panther film has the subtitle: Wakanda Forever, that film feels focused on that world, while The Marvels looks to continue the stories of Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan. This is the next phase of MCU movies of course, but as every phase goes on, more and more do we see the world being created and the movies not focusing on one hero, but one hero’s world.

The Marvels is set to fly into theaters on November 11, 2022.
