Eric Bana (Lone Survior) has joined director Guy Ritchie’s (Snatch) retelling of the King Arthur legend Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur, according to Variety. Bana will play Uther, the father of King Arthur (Charlie Hunnam).
Jude Law (Black Sea) and Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) are rumored to be joining the the film as well. Yet to be cast is the role of Sir Lancelot, who has an affair with Arthur’s wife Guinever (Astrid Berges-Frisbey) despite being Arthur’s favorite knight.
The majority of Ritchie’s work has been in crime and gangster fiction (Snatch, Revolver), though he did direct both films in the Sherlock Holmes series. The director hasn’t worked with Bana before, though interestingly, Bana did work with Charlie Hunnam in 2012’s Deadfall. Screenwriter Joby Harold wrote the 2007 psychological thriller Awake and has several scripts in development, including a feature version of The Twilight Zone.
