According to Deadline, Elle Fanning (Maleficent) is in talks with Awesomeness Films about starring in a film adaptation of the YA novel Beware That Girl by Teresa Toten.
Beware That Girl is said to be in the same genre as Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train. It is a psychological thriller that takes place in a wealthy Manhattan private school where two girls form a destructive relationship. Kate is a scholarship student whose only way of surviving is to lie in order to make friends with her elite classmates. Olivia is the most popular girl in school with a dark past that also will play into the movie. Lastly, there is a charming new faculty member who forces the girls’ secrets to be revealed.
Toten has other novels such as Blondes series, The Game, and The Unlikely Hero of Room 13B, which was named one of the best teen books of 2015.
Fanning stars as Annette Bening’s daughter in 20th Century Women. She is currently filming Sofia Coppola’s The Beguiled.
