Elizabeth Banks Cast In Upcoming Medical Drama Film

When most people think of Elizabeth Banks, they usually reference one of two franchises. It’s either her role in the Pitch Perfect films as an acapella commentator or the eccentric Effie Trinket from The Hunger Games. Both of these are incredibly different from her next project – medical drama.

Banks has just been cast as the lead in A Mistake, a GFC Films production, which follows a gifted female surgeon surviving sexism and prejudice in a male-dominated workplace. After she commits a mistake during surgery, her life and career are in jeopardy as her male coworkers begin to question her abilities even more.

This will certainly be a role in which Banks will have the opportunity to demonstrate her range, considering that in addition to her best-known work, she is notably a comedy actress. It will be interesting to see how she does in a dramatic role.

A Mistake is an adaption written and directed by Christine Jeffs, based on the book by Carl Shuker. Jeffs is a well-known filmmaker on the festival circuit, having had movies in both the Cannes Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival.

The film is set to begin Principal Photography on August 15 in New Zealand.
