The Green Inferno, the cannibal horror movie from director Eli Roth, will finally hit theaters September 25, roughly a year after it was originally scheduled for release.
The movie follows a group student activists who travel to the Amazon to save the rainforest only to be captured by a tribe of cannibals. The movie’s release was delayed after financier Worldview Entertainment balked at ex-CEO Christopher Woodrow’s commitment to provide the prints and advertising. This is the first movie for Blumhouse Productions‘ label BH Tilt, which will focus on the studio’s multi-platform genre releases.
This is the first directorial effort for Roth since 2007’s Hostel: Part II. He has been busy as a producer though, working on the two Last Exorcism films, the Netflix series,Hemlock Grove, and the disaster movie Aftershock.
Given BH Tilt’s purpose, the movie is likely to be released simultaneously in theaters and on-demand services. A pair of trailers were released last year, leading up to its original release. You can watch the second one below.
