According to Variety, Vin Diesel-starrer Bloodshot is being infused with new blood. Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver, Alita: Battle Angel), Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex), and Sam Heughan (Outlander, The Spy Who Dumped Me) are in talks to join the cast, which features Diesel as main character Angelo Mortalli. Mortalli is a former mobster who was sold out by his crime family and forced to become the subject of experimental tests, giving him superhuman speed, agility, and healing powers. He can also control electronic devices and access computers just by touching them.
Sony is bringing the Valiant comic to the big screen, and they are betting big on its franchise potential. They are already planning a five-movie shared universe that combines elements of the Bloodshot and Harbingers series of comics. The Harbingers are super-powered human beings with a wide range of psionic powers. It’s possible (though unconfirmed) that Gonzalez and Heughan will play Harbingers (Flamingo and Sting, respectively), while Sheen may play an unnamed villain.
Bloodshot will be directed by Dave Wilson, who has mostly been a visual effects guru thus far in his career. He and Tim Miller (Deadpool) run Blur Studio, which mainly handles effects-work for video games, though they did some work on Avengers: Age of Ultron. Writing duties will be handled by Eric Heisserer (Arrival). Principal photography is scheduled to begin in July.
