Dylan O’Brien In Negotiations to Star in Peter Farrelly’s Next Film

Teen Wolf and Maze Runner star Dylan O’Brien is in talks to lead in Peter Farrelly’s upcoming movie, based on a true story during the Vietnam War. Based on Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue’s book, The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War, the film focuses on the true story of Donahue who tracks down his childhood friends to share a few beers with them, all while they are serving in the Army during the Vietnam War.

In recent weeks, the leading role for the movie was one of the more sought after in Hollywood, with O’Brien beating out a number of other actors for the part. He will be joining Viggo Mortensen, who has supporting role in the movie and previously starred in Farelly’s Green Book.

The script will be adapted from Molloy and Donohue’s book and will be written by Brian Currie (co-wrote Green Book) and Pete Jones (Hall Pass).

David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Andrew Muscato will serve as producers for the film. Granger and Goldberg will also oversee the project for Skydance, alongside Aimee Rivera.

This film follows Farelly’s success with his critically acclaimed hit Green Book, which earned five Oscar nominations and went on to win three, including best picture, best original screenplay and best supporting actor for Mahershala Ali. Grossing $314 million worldwide, the movie was a box office success, with a reported budget of $23 million.

O’Brien is also working on two Paramount films, Infinite and Monster Problems, and most recently starred in the eOne film The Education of Fredrick Fitzell
