Dwayne Johnson and ‘The Rundown’ Director Working on Sequel

While the 2003 film The Rundown employed a healthy mixture of action, adventure and comedy in what was ultimately a commercially successful and popular endeavor, there was never much talk about a sequel. Until now. In a recent interview, director Peter Berg (Lone Survivor, Hancock) announced that he was meeting with writers and had already spoken with Dwayne Johnson (Fast & Furious 6, Pain & Gain) about making a sequel. He even has an actor in mind to star opposite Johnson, presumably one Johnson will have to track down as he did with Sean William Scott in the original.

If you haven’t seen The Rundown, the story centers on a bounty hunter named Beck (Johnson) who dreams of quitting his job to open up a restaurant. His current employer, Walker, promises to pay him the money necessary to do so if Beck will do one last job: travel to the Brazilian rainforest to track down and return Walker’s son (Sean William Scott).

While the sequel is in the works, production is most likely a long way off since the writers have not yet been selected. In the meantime, Berg’s Lone Survivor will see a limited December 27 release before hitting a wide release on January 10, while Johnson can be seen in Fast & Furious 6, which just hit DVD December 10.
