‘Dune’ Wins at Cinema Audio Society Awards; ‘Encanto’ Wins for Animated Film Category

It has been reported that Dune won the Live-Action Motion Picture award at the Cinema Audio Society Awards, an award show that focuses on the sound design of a film. Some other notable awards given out at the event include Encanto, which won the award for Animation, Sir Ridley Scott receiving the filmmaker award; and Paul Massey received the career achievement award.

Award shows like the Cinema Audio Society Awards prime people for the biggest awards show of the year, the Oscars. Dune is nominated for Best Picture at the 2022 Oscars as well as Best Original Score, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup, and Hairstyling, Best Film Editing, and Best Sound. Dune winning at the Cinema Audio Society Awards suggests a possibility that it may win the Oscar for Best Sound.

Dune is an adaptation of the science-fiction novel of the same name written by Frank Herbert. Some actors who appear in the film are Timothée Chalamet (Lady Bird), as Paul Atreides, Zendaya, known for the Spider-Man MCU films, as Chani and Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), as Lady Jessica.  Dune is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049).

Jackson Fanelli: I am currently pursuing my masters degree in Creative Writing from Full Sail University. My life passions revolve around artistic expression through both writing and acting. I was introduced to the arts through acting in musicals and plays. I hope to pursue screenwriting for television. I have an interest in studying the arts and what interests audiences which has led me to writing about films at MXDWN.
