Daisy Edgar-Jones Leads Sony’s ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ Trailor The Delia Owens Novel

The first trailer for Sony’s 3000 Pictures latest film, Where The Crawdads Sing, was unveiled on Tuesday, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) in the lead role. With Olivia Newman directing, the film is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Delia Owens.

Where The Crawdads Sing follows the story of Kya (Edgar-Jones), an abandoned young girl who raises herself to adulthood in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors surrounded her; the “Marsh Girl” haunted Barkley Cover, isolating sharp and resilient Kya from her community. After she opens up to a new world and a new group of people, one of them is found dead, and she is immediately cast as the town’s main suspect. As the case unfolds, the unveiling of the truth becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh.

Where The Crawdads Sing also stars Taylor John Smith (Sharp Objects), Harris Dickinson (The King’s Man), Michael Hyatt (Snowfall), Sterling Macer, Jr. (Double Down) and David Strathairn (Nomadland), Lucy Alibar (Beasts of the Southern Wild) adapted the screenplay, with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter producing and Betsy Danbury and Rhonda Fehr serving as executive producers.

The film also features new music from the 11-time Grammy award-winning artist Taylor Swift. Where The Crawdads Sing is slated to release exclusively in theaters on July 15th.
