Two years following the release of the feature film Downton Abbey, the teaser trailer for the sequel Downton Abbey: A New Era has dropped. This time it seems the Crowley family is on an adventure to the south of France. The British historical drama television series ran for six seasons, and the story continues for the second time on the big screen following a revelation from the matriarch, the Dowager Countess.
“Years ago, before you were born, I met a man. And now I’ve come into the possession of a villa in the South of France,” the Countess, played by Maggie Smith, says in the teaser, which you can check out below.
The main cast of the series and first film are confirmed to appear in the sequel, with new additions like Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, Dominic West and Jonathan Zaccaï. While plot details for the sequel have been kept tightly under wraps, it is to directly follow the first film which involved King George V and Queen Mary visiting the Crowley household. Catch up on the series on Amazon Prime Video or Netflix and the first film is now available on Peacock.
Downton Abbey: A New Era is set to hit theaters March 18, 2022.
