Don Johnson Joins The Cast Of The Cameron Diaz Comedy ‘The Other Woman’

Fans are glad to see the once A-lister Don Johnson getting busy. Don was last seen playing a slave owner in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. IMDb reports that Don is in final negotiations for the Nick Cassavetes directed The Other Woman, starring Cameron Diaz.

Twentieth Century Fox moved swiftly into production on producer Julie Yorn’s (Bride Wars) high-concept revenge comedy. According to Collider, as soon as Yorn brought lawyer-turned-screenwriter Melissa Stack on board, Fox gave the green light. Melissa Stacks’ 2007 script, I Want To F..k Your Sister, made it to The Black List  but has not yet escaped development at Escape Artists and MTV Films.

Johnson would play Diaz’s father, a lothario inclined to date women half his age. Johnson is the latest to join the film’s star-studded cast, already in production in the Hamptons, NY.

Cameron Diaz is The Other Woman in an affair with Leslie Mann’s (This is 40), cheating husband, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones). When she finds out he’s been lying to her, she approaches Mann to join her to get even. According to Variety, Kristen Wiig, was originally slated to play the role of the scorned wife.

Nicki Minaj leaves her American Idol duties to make her acting debut, playing Cameron Diaz’s opinionated law assistant. Minaj also voiced a part in the 3-D animated Ice Age: Continental Drift.

Kate Upton plays another one of Coster-Waldau’s mistresses who joins up with Diaz’s and Mann’s characters to conspire for revenge. Variety reports that the film is in the vein of The First Wives Club, only with younger leads. It isn’t about women getting revenge on each other, it’s about retaliation on the man that has wronged them. The film will lean more to humor and self-empowerment , as opposed to anger/jealousy and payback.

The Other Woman is scheduled to open in theaters, Friday, April 25, 2014.
