Dominic Monaghan, who played the role of Meriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, will be reuniting with Frodo actor Elijah Wood for a cast reunion panel at CCXP 2026. The panel commemorates the 25th anniversary of the first film in Peter Jackson’s acclaimed trilogy, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, originally released in December 2001.
The panel is meant to be the headline event at this year’s CCXP, themed “Friendship Forever.” There are hopes to add more cast members from the Lord of the Rings reunion panel, and more reunion panels for other film and TV anniversaries. However, a full lineup of panels for this year’s CCXP has not been announced yet.
The panel also comes at a great time for the Lord of the Rings franchise, with recent renewed interest in the franchise due to upcoming new installments, such as The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, due for a release in December next year, and new Stephen Colbert-written project currently known as The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past.
The panel will take place during this year’s CCXP, on December 3rd through 6th in São Paulo, Brazil. In addition, Monaghan and Wood will participate on both December 3rd and 4th in special stage panels, Q&As, photo ops, and autograph sessions.
