Disney Sets Sights on “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” as Next Live Action Remake

Following the successes of the Aladdin and The Lion King remakes, Disney has once again decided to remake one of their classical animated films into a live action movie. This time, the movie they have decided to remake is none other than Walt Disney’s very first full-length animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Being run by Disney, it’s likely this film will be a much different remake than previous examples like Snow White and the Huntsman and Mirror, Mirror.

Anyone who knows their animation history knows that Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was, and still is, a landmark entry in cinema, being the first feature length cel-animated movie with sound in color. When it came out back in 1937, Snow White was met with critical acclaim and even earned an Academy Award. The success of that movie practically shaped America’s animation industry and cemented Disney’s role as powerhouse Hollywood studio whose dominance remains unparalleled today.

According to Movie Web, shooting on the new Snow White movie is expected to begin sometime in spring of 2020, and it will be filmed in Vancouver, Canada. Casting should likely start soon, but as of right now it is unknown if any actors are currently attached to the film. We do know that Marc Webb, best known for directing The Amazing Spider-Man and 500 Days of Summeris slated to direct the remake.
