The trailer for Disney’s upcoming animated movie, Raya & The Last Dragon, has just been released. Disney initially revealed details and concept art about the movie during D23. Then the poster for the movie was revealed on October 20th. Now the trailer is out giving the world a closer look at Raya & The Last Dragon.
The story of Raya & The Last Dragon is set in a world where humans and dragons once co-existed, but a calamity causes the disappearance of the dragons. Until a warrior named Raya discovers a water dragon named Sisu. Raya and Sisu must work together the restore Sisu’s powers and save Raya’s home. The trailer makes the movie look very action oriented and full of adventure. It shows off scenes of Raya engaging in sword combat and exploring a hidden temple with her pill bug like animal companion.
Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada are the directors of the movie, and the script’s writers are Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim. Raya is voiced by actress Kelly Marie Tran and Sisu the dragon is being played by Awkwafina.
According to Screen Rant the movie was supposed to be released this November, but because of the COVID crisis the movie’s new release date will be in March of 2021. It is currently unknown if Disney will be giving the Raya & The Last Dragon a theatrical release, or if the movie will be releasing exclusively to streaming. As of right now movie theaters are currently struggling due to safety concerns, but many Disney+ users were upset when it was revealed that the live action adaptation of Mulan was released behind an additional $30 paywall.
