After several setbacks, Tron: Ares is finally on the horizon. With a segment dedicated to it at CinemaCon, a trailer for the new film has debuted online.
Instead of being brought into a virtual world, the virtual world is brought to humans. An AI algorithm sends several beings into the real world to achieve a goal, forcing humanity to confront it head on.
The Tron series has been a staple of sci-fi films since the 80s. From the futuristic colors of the suits to the technology on display, even right down to the Lightcycles themselves, much of what was introduced in the original 1982 film has since become instantly recognizable.
On top of the icons of the series, the trailer for Ares shows the Lightcycles interacting with realistic technology. One part even shows a Lightcycle being pursued by a police cruiser, only to be cut clean in half by the bike.
Jared Leto leads the cast of Ares, alongside Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, and Cameron Monaghan. Also appearing in the film is Jeff Bridges, after leading Tron and appearing in TRON: Legacy. Joachim Rønning takes up the directors chair, taking over the director of Legacy, Joseph Kosinski. Rønning has also directed Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, Young Woman And The Sea, and even co-directed Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Tron: Ares hits theaters March 10th. Check out the trailer below.
