Disney Announces ‘Tangled’ Live-Action Remake Set For 2028 Release Date At D23

Audiences can start preparing to see Teagan Croft step into the role of Rapunzel on March 31, 2028.  The live action adaptation of Tangled will be directed by Michael Gracey.

Milo Manheim will also star in the film as Flynn Rider, with Kathryn Hahn set to play Mother Gothel.  Diego Luna, Patrick McPherson, Hugo McPherson, and Caitriona Balfe round out the currently known cast.  Members of the audience at D23 were privy to a brief sneak peek of the movie, with audiences exclaiming their excitement at Hahn’s appearance as villain Mother Gothel.  Deadline provided some insight on the original animated Tangled film.

“The original Tangled movie followed the magically long-haired Rapunzel (Mandy Moore), who has spent her entire life in a tower. But when a runaway thief (Zachari Levi) stumbles upon her, she sets out to discover the world for the first time, and who she really is. The cast also included Donna Murphy, Ron Perlman, Brad Garrett and Jeffrey Tambor.”

Disney will likely be eager to build on the box office of the animated film, which grossed $607.6 million internationally and $200.8 million domestically.
