Disney and New Regency Extend Distribution Deal

The Walt Disney Company has renewed its global theatrical distribution partnership with New Regency, the production company behind films such as Bohemian Rhapsody, The Revenant, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Little Women, The Big Short, and Bride Wars.

The agreement was a carryover from New Regency’s 10-year arrangement with 20th Century Fox, which was struck in 2011 when Disney bought a large portion of Fox’s entertainment holdings.

Disney will continue to advertise and distribute New Regency’s new theatrical movie releases across various platforms. As part of the agreement, David O. Russell’s next big film will be the first new production to be released under the extended deal. The film is currently in the post-production phase. It stars Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, Chris Rock, Rami Malek, Anya Taylor Joy, Michael Shannon, and many more in the untitled feature film.

“The whole team at Disney is fantastic, and we couldn’t be happier to have them as our partners. This is the perfect home for our movies, and we look forward to continuing this successful relationship,” said Yariv Milchan, New Regency’s Chairman and CEO.

“We’re incredibly pleased to extend our long-standing and highly regarded relationship with New Regency to market and distribute their films. We look forward to bringing their entertaining slate to audiences around the world for many more years to come,” said Justin Connolly, President of Platform Distribution at Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution.
