The latest poster for the fifth installment of the Scream franchise has been released a month in advance of the movie’s release on January 14th. The poster gives fans a clue to the identity of the killer and leaves just enough for fans to guess and to get excited about the latest film in the fan-favorite slasher- film series.
The twelve main characters of the film are featured on the poster. Their faces look grim while the Ghostface killer looms over them. The poster itself doesn’t narrow down the identity of the killer, given that all twelve characters are seen and it clearly stating “the killer is on this poster.” However, while it does not narrow it down, it does allow for the fans to indulge in their own theories as to who it could be. The poster itself will only feed into the theories that fans have come up with since the cast of Scream 5 has been announced.
The three main characters of the previous movies, Neve Campbell, David Arquette, and Courtney Cox, are fan’s main three suspects as to who the killer is, but due to the poster’s incessant need to tease, the killer could also be any of the new characters; played by, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Mikey Madison, Jack Quaid, Jasmin Savoy Brown, or Sonia Ammar.
The film itself is the fifth installment of the series, after four prior movies and a TV show. The director duo is made up of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet, who have worked together before on Ready or Rock and it was written by Guy Busick who wrote Murder Mystery and James Vanderbilt who wrote Castle Rock, with original screenwriter Kevin Williamson on as EP for the first time since Scream 2.
Scream is due to hit theaters on January 14th.
