Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny borrowed the Super Bowl spotlight on Sunday, as Disney and Lucasfilm released a new peek at the film.
The fifth installment of the classic franchise follows Harrison Ford as he returns to his iconic role as Indiana Jones alongside co-stars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Antonia Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, and others. James Mangold directs the new film – a fresh face after Steven Spielberg directed the first four movies – and scored by John Williams.
In the Super Bowl sneak peek, Ford is de-aged into a younger version of the character, which that actor has admitted he was hesitant to do, stating:
“I never loved the idea until I saw how it was accomplished in this case — which is very different from how it’s been done in other films I’ve seen. They’ve got every frame of film, either printed or unprinted, of me during 40 years of working with Lucasfilm on various stuff. I can act the scene, and they sort through with AI every… foot of film to find me in that same angle and light. It’s bizarre, and it works, and it is my face.”
Spielberg and George Lucas will be the executive producers. Dial of Destiny premieres in theaters on June 30.
