Director Louis Letterier Will Return For ‘Now You See Me’ Sequel

With the commercial success of the summer blockbuster Now You See Me (almost $300 million worldwide) it is no surprise that Lionsgate greenlit a sequel to the magic-based heist film. While no one could have predicted the box-office hit the film would be, director Louis Letterier always had the desire for a sequel in the back of his mind. The uncut version of the film reortedly contained a scene that sets up a possible sequel. The scene was removed for the theatrical version, but will be present after the credits once the DVD and Bluray are released.

Although he may shoot another movie first, Letterier says he has already begun mapping out the sequel, “I’m currently not writing, but we’re coming up with the story, the plot, the everything, the twist and the new characters and everything. It was always at least a diptych, two movies to tell one long story…I’m very much involved in it.”

It has not yet been confirmed, but is a pretty good bet that the original cast of Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network), Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers), Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games), Isla Fisher (Confessions of a Shopaholic), Dave Franco (Warm Bodies), Melanie Laurent (Beginners), Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman will be returning for the sequel.

Now You See Me will be released to DVD and Bluray September 3.
