The seventh installment of the Jurassic World series was released on July 2nd. Since then, then film has been a roaring success at the box office, having earned just over $147 million dollars. These numbers are enough to dominate the 4th of July weekend, making Rebirth a hit.
While not as profitable as past Jurassic films, Rebirth holds its own. Over the traditional weekend it earned $91.5 million, and it’s first 3 days (Wednesday – Friday) saw $82 million. In comparison, 2015’s Jurassic World reboot brought in $208 million in its 3-day start.
While having earned $147 million domestically, Rebirth also had a strong showing internationally. Its international take totals $171 million, making a worldwide total of $318 million.
Critics and audiences were also kind to this new film, and audience interest is a must, since Universal hopes to spawn a new trilogy from Rebirth.
Jurassic World Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali. It has a runtime of 2 hours and 14 minutes and focuses on a team going to one of the original islands to collect dinosaur genes from some of the largest dinosaurs of all.

As the 4th of July weekend draws to a close, one film out roared its competition with Jurassic World Rebirth bringing in $91.5 million for its first official weekend after a fantastic head start on Wednesday for a total of $146.3 million. With predictions all over the place, Jurassic World Rebirth safely settled into the number one spot for the week which surprisingly lacked newcomers with the next big summer blockbuster tent pole hopefuls slated for later in the month.
F1 still had a good second lap, snagging $26 million more for its second place crown in its second week. Finally losing steam after a stellar four weeks, Drramworks’ How to Train Your Dragon took third with $11 million knocking Elio down to fourth. The Pixar bomb only saw $5.7 million in its third week, still plagued by its abysmal marketing. There is still a chance of a slow crawl to sleeper hit status as more flock to theaters for summer break.
Fifth place went to 28 Years Later with $4.6 million, as the horror flick rounds out a diversified top five.
Taking sixth is Disney’s live action Lilo & Stitch, which tied with Blumhouse’s M3GAN 2.0, each bringing in a total of $3.8 million.
Eighth place went to Mission Impossible — Final Reckoning with $2.7 million. And ninth went to indie darling Materialists with $1.3 million.
This week’s tenth place went to a Re-release in the form of This Is Spinal Tap which saw a promotional theatrical run proceeding its sequel scheduled for August.
