Academy Award-winning American actor and director, Denzel Washington, has recently decided his next involvement in a project. In a report originally curated by Variety, Washington is set to join the cast of Little Things. Little Things is a Warner Brothers feature that will be written by American filmmaker, John Lee Hancock, who is known for directing films like The Blind Side and The Highwaymen. Hancock is supposedly being considered to direct the project too but there is no word on the status of that deal yet.
The film will follow Deke, to be portrayed by Washington, who is a deputy sheriff in Kern County, CA. In order to catch a serial killer on the loose, Deke will team up with Baxter, a detective for the LASD. The title of the film comes from the premise of Deke being able to notice the “little things” about killers and crime scenes. And it seems, as most all cop thrillers do, Deke has a secret from his past that is bound to haunt him.
Whether Washington’s talent as an actor is put to use in a crime drama thriller about a grizzled law enforcement officer or is applied to another low sense, high action blockbuster (similar to Washington’s The Equalizer films) is to be determined. The project remains in the early stages of development.
