On October 3, the Denver Film Festival announced its full lineup of films for this year’s festival. Included in this lineup are several staples of this year’s festival circuit. The festival’s opening film, I Play Rocky, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. The two closing films, James Gray’s Paper Tiger and Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth!, also had festival premieres, with Paper Tiger premiering in competition for the Palme D’Or at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and Behemoth! having premiered recently at the New York Film Festival.
The festival’s special presentation lineup also features films from across this year’s festival circuit. In alphabetical order, the lineup includes the following: Stephanie Ahn’s Bedford Park, Siân Heder’s Being Heumann, Pedro Almodóvar’s Bitter Christmas, Jordan Firstman’s Club Kid, Jesse Eisenberg’s The Debut, Simon Stone’s Elsinore, Marie Kreutzer’s Gentle Monster, Beth de Araújo’s Josephine, Guy Nattiv’s The Liberation, Andrew Haigh’s A Long Winter, Noah Segan’s The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, Brad Bird’s animated Ray Gunn, Liz Sargent’s Take Me Home, Anton Corbijn’s A Talent for Murder, Leah Nelson’s animated Tangles, Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fisher’s Wicker, and Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine.
The festival will be held Oct. 22-Nov. 1. Screenings will be held at the Sie FilmCenter, Ellie Caulkins Opera House, MCA Denver at the Holiday Theater, and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
