Since the release of No Time To Die, the final outing for Daniel Craig’s James Bond, many have been eagerly looking forward to seeing who will fill the role of 007. But new reports from the next director for the series suggests that the next actor to step in to the part may not be what they expect.
Dune and Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve is set to helm the next Bond film under Amazon MGM. The 26th film in the Bond franchise, writer Steven Knight is attached to pen the script, with Amy Pascal and David Heyman producing.
Many are speculating who could fill the shoes of 007, and several big names have been thrown around in speculation of who they’ll pick. Early casting reports, however, state that it won’t be anyone who’s been theorized.
In talking to their sources, Deadline was able to report that they’re looking for a Bond that they described as a “fresh face.” Not only that, but their sources also report that they’re going back to the very genesis of Bond for inspiration.
The character of James Bond came on the scene in 1953’s novel Casino Royale, written by Ian Fleming. Many of the descriptions that Fleming gave to Bond, such as that of him being a seemingly unsuspecting man who encounters dangerous situations, are going to be followed by the creative team when it comes to picking who will play 007.
