This weekend will see an unlikely box office matchup. Blake Lively-led It Ends With Us will be going toe-to-toe with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, newest feature, Deadpool And Wolverine.
It Ends With Us sees a woman, played by Lively, finds love in a man, but he begins to remind her of how her parents acted, resurrecting the feelings of her traumatic past.
Aside from Lively, It Ends With Us, directed by Justin Baldoni, features Baldoni opposite Lively, alongside Brandon Skelnar, Jenny Slate, and Hasan Minhaj.
Early tracking for It Ends With Us has totaled around $30 million, but some have it on a bigger projection of up to $50 million. Reportedly, those expecting higher numbers are also banking on Friday’s ticket buyer demographic to be vastly female.
If it lands on the higher end of the projections, that’ll be enough to go toe-to-toe with the reigning box office champ, Deadpool And Wolverine.
Variety noted that moving into its third weekend of release, Deadpool And Wolverine is looking to land around $50 million. The domestic total sits around $421 million, with worldwide around $880 million.
They also acknowledged that, in a matter of days, it’ll hit $1 billion at the box office, making it the second movie to do so this year, after Inside Out 2.
