Renowned filmmaker David Fincher is making a triumphant return to the thriller genre with his upcoming film, The Killer. Netflix dropped an electrifying teaser trailer on Tuesday, setting the stage for its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. Following its festival debut, the movie will hit theaters on October 27 and arrive on Netflix on November 10.
Based on Alexis Nolent (pen name: Matz) and Luc Jacamon’s graphic novel series, The Killer stars Michael Fassbender and marks Fincher’s first feature since 2020’s Mank, which earned 10 Oscar nominations and two wins.
In the film, Fassbender takes on the role of an assassin embroiled in an international manhunt, battling both external enemies and his inner demons. Despite the high-stakes pursuit, he insists it’s not personal. The cast includes Charles Parnell, Arliss Howard, Sophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton. Andrew Kevin Walker adapted the graphic novel, originally published from 2006 to 2009.
This collaboration reunites Walker and Fincher, who previously worked together on the iconic Se7en in 1995. The teaser trailer and poster offer a tantalizing glimpse into the film’s suspenseful world.
With Fincher’s proven track record and Fassbender’s commanding presence, The Killer is set to be a captivating cinematic experience, reigniting discussions about morality and self-discovery in the face of intense challenges. Get ready to be enthralled by this thrilling new addition to Fincher’s filmography.
