David Cross’ Directorial Debut ‘HITS’ to be First Film Released Through BitTorrent

Arrested Development’s David Cross made his directorial debut in 2014 with the dark comedy HITS which premiered at Sundance and will now be the first film to be released through BitTorrent Bundle, a pay-what-you-want service.

Exploring “the nature of fame in 21st Century YouTube America, HITS takes place in a small town in upstate New York populated by people who trade in unrealistic expectations. Matt Walsh (TV’s Veep) stars as an accidental viral sensation, with additional performances by Meredith Hagner (TV’s As the World Turns), James Adomian (Comedy Bang! Bang!), Amy Carlson (TV’s Third Watch), and Derek Waters (Hall Pass), with appearances by Cross’ acting peer Michael Cera (Superbad) and others.

Coinciding with the February 13 BitTorrent release, Cross has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds in an effort to get HITS to as many fans and into as many cities as possible. He hopes to rent out theaters where the fans can come and pay what they want for their movie tickets, allowing them to be active participants in its distribution.
