Dave Franco’s Debut, ‘The Rental’, Stars Alison Brie and Dan Stevens

Franco has starred in a number of films such as the aforementioned The Disaster Artist and Barry Jenkins’ Oscar-nominated film, If Beale Street Could Talk, but he will sit in the director’s chair for the horror thriller, The Rental. It looks like American actor, Dave Franco, will have his directorial debut and step up to his older brother, James, who directed 2017’s The Disaster Artist. His project, known as The Rental, is to begin shooting in Oregon sometime this coming April. The film has a home at Black Bear Pictures- known for films such as Ben Is Back and All is Lost- which will fully finance the project.

English actor Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, The Guest) and American actress Alison Brie (Community, Mad Men), both of whom tend to be known for their performances on television shows, are starring alongside American actress Sheila Vand (Argo, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night) and Jeremy Allen White (After Everything, Shameless).

The premise behind The Rental is two couples renting a vacation home for some form of celebration and things will inevitably go wrong. The project still remains in the early stages of development but Black Bear Pictures will produce it with Franco’s production company, Ramona Films. The news was first reported by Deadline.
