Lionsgate and Fathom Entertainment have announced the dates for the theatrical re-release of The Twilight Saga, consisting of the films Twilight (2008), New Moon (2009), Eclipse (2010), Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011), and Breaking Dawn Part 2 (2012). The films will be re-released in theaters from Oct. 29th to Nov. 2nd, with a new film playing each day. Breaking that down, the re-release will go as follows: Twilight (2008) on Oct. 29th, New Moon (2009) on Oct. 30th, Eclipse (2010) on Oct. 31st, Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011) on Nov. 1st, and Breaking Dawn Part 2 (2012) on Nov. 2nd.
The re-release is being done to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Stephenie Meyer’s first Twilight book’s publication. In addition to the movies, each screening will feature a special roundtable panel discussion between Meyer, producer Wyck Godfrey, Gillian Bohrer, and former co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group/producer Karen Rosenfelt.
Based on Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling book series, The Twilight Saga was a franchise staple of the late 2000s and early 2010s, with all five films grossing a collective $3.3 billion worldwide. The films follow the romance between Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), which gets tested by other vampires and werewolves, and Bella’s friendship with werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner). The series jump-started the careers of its leading actors, Stewart, Pattinson, and Lautner, and pushed them into stardom.
The book’s anniversary is being celebrated in other ways as well, with Warner Music Group re-releasing the soundtracks of all 5 Twilight Saga films on Oct. 31st and Twilight in Concert going on its first-ever national tour across 60 U.S cities from Sept. 12th to Nov. 30th.
