Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Peter Dinklage (Game of thrones) and Young Mazino (Beef) are set to star in new Netflix animated feature Steps. In an article on Netflix’s editorial page, Tudum, Co-Director of the film John Ripa (Reya and the Last Dragon) states, “We feel incredibly lucky to have all three of these massive talents on our film,” and follows, “Our goal was to break the fairy-tale mold by making every single character three-dimensional and worthy of a happily ever after, and we couldn’t have done it without Daniel, Peter, and Young.” Ripa is directing along side Alyce Tzue (Little Emma).
Steps is a retelling of the story Cinderella that centers around the Cinderella’s step sisters stealing the fairy godmother’s magic. Amanda Seyfried (The Housemaid) is set to play Cinderella and her step sisters are to be played by Ali Wong (Beef) and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All At Once). Also starring beside them is Bette Midler (Hocus Pocus) as the Fairy Godmother, which she had to say about the role, “The beloved Fairy Godmother, the wholesome Fairy Godmother — the one with all the good intentions — has been around for a long, long time. This particular version of the Fairy Godmother has good intentions, but she’s a little bit of a bumbler, and she’s a little bit of a schemer.”
