Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki Join ‘Peter Rabbit’ Voice Cast

Star Wars: The Force Awakens breakout Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki (The Man From U.N.C.L.E.) are both reportedly set to join Sony’s upcoming live-action/animation hybrid adaptation of Peter Rabbit. The upcoming feature is based on Beatrix Potter’s beloved creation The Tale of Peter Rabbit, first published in 1902. Variety was the first to report this casting.

Will Gluck (AnnieEasy A) will direct Peter Rabbit, from a script written by Rob Lieber (Gluck provided revisions to the screenplay). The ambitious hybrid production will be made at the Sydney-based animation and visual effects studio Animal Logic, who two years ago scored a monster commercial and critical hit with The LEGO Movie. James Corden (Into the Woods) will voice Peter in the film, with Rose Byrne (Neighbors) appearing in the flesh as Bea, the female lead in the feature. The film will center on a rebellious rabbit attempting to sneak onto a farmer’s vegetable garden. The roles in which Ridley or Debicki will voice don’t appear to be known at this time. Production on Peter Rabbit is slated to begin in January of next year with worldwide release plans set for April 2018.

It’s quite to coup for the movie to attach two quickly rising actresses as both have a fairly full stock of upcoming films in the pipeline. Ridley, an unknown before Star Wars: The Force Awakens thrust her onto international stardom, has four films in various stages of development not including her Star Wars duty. She is currently attached to headline the drama The Lost Wife, appear opposite Naomi Watts in Ophelia, headline Marielle Heller’s thriller Kolma as well as star in Doug Liman’s science fiction film Chaos Walking. The actress will also reprise her role of Rey in next year’s Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Debicki as well has a full plate. She recently appeared in the Emmy winning limited series The Night Manager and has four other features already in the can. They are the upcoming drama The TaleBreath, directed by Simon Baker, and the thriller God Particle starring David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Daniel Brühl. Debicki also appears in Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

We will stay tuned to the latest on Peter Rabbit.
