‘Cursed in Baja’, was recently purchased for international distribution by Anchor Bay Entertainment. The release will begin on August 23 with its participation in the Fright Fest Film Festival being hosted in London. The horror film will hit screens soon after. Cursed in Baja was directed by Jeff Daniel Phillips who also acted in, produced, and wrote the screenplay for the film. Joining Phillips as producers for the film are Thomas Zambeck and Brian Katz who lead the revival of Anchor Bay Entertainment to produce genre movies like Cursed in Baja.
The film follows the story of the character Pirelli an ex-lawman hired to track down the heir of a massive Los Angeles fortune while in Mexico. On the job, Pirelli is faced with his past coming back to haunt him in the worst way possible forcing him to take matters into his own hands. Joining Phillips in the cast are Barbara Crampton, and Jose Conejo Martin. Phillip’s work in horror is through association with musician and director Rob Zombie though it should be noted that Cursed in Baja is solely Phillips’s work.
Alongside Cursed in Baja Anchor Bay Entertainment also acquired the rights to a science fiction film entitled Daddy that will see its release after Cursed in Baja. In a quote shared with Variety Zambeck has this to share on Cursed in Baja, “(Cursed in Baja) is an intense journey into madness, destined to take its place among the genre-bending classics that have come to define indie film.”
