As of June 15, director Nick Loeb and his production partner Cathy Allyn, began shooting a film about the controversial Supreme Court ruling of Roe v. Wade. This suit legalized abortion, which is still a hot button, both politically and socially, in today’s society.
Loeb is discovering that he is in for many battles with the production of this picture. Currently, the director has already had issues with replacing several actors, the script has been rejected from many Hollywood backers due to the content, and the production has either been banned or kicked from many settings and locations after finding out what was to be filmed.
Although the production is about an important historical event that has helped shape women’s rights in America, it is the way the story is told that is getting such a negative response. The script doesn’t just convey the information in an entertaining way, but rather it takes on a pro-life stance within the film.
Since Loeb is already well-known in the media for his provocative fight over custody with actress Sophia Vergara for cryogenically frozen embryos, he is trying to keep his film project low-key. Other than refusing to release an official title to the project, this is proving to be a taxing effort. In addition to the bans and replacement of cast, many of the crew, including the first director of the film, have quit due to the opinionated viewpoint of the movie. Short staffed, Loeb and Allyn are left to co-direct, co-produce, and co-write the script.
Loeb ensures that even with the controversy, there are notable investors helping to make the film happen, although they wish not to be named. Jon Voight and Stacy Dash are reportedly appearing in the film. It seems that Loeb’s untitled Roe v. Wade film may just add lighter fluid to an already fiery debate.
