Constantin Film (Resident Evil) has attained the rights to Lee Goldberg’s script for The Walk, which is based off of his thriller novel of the same name. The Walk is about a studio executive who is trying to make it during post-apocalypse California.
Due to an apocalyptic earthquake, the studio executive has to walk from downtown LA to the San Fernando Valley to find his family. While he is on his journey, he meets an unusual traveler going the same direction. The book was originally published by Five Star in the early 2000s but found recent success thanks to it being on Amazon Kindle.
Goldberg is a well known author, in which some of his novels include Lost Hills, True Fiction, and five Fox & O’Hare books. His TV credits include show-running the CBS series Diagnosis Murder and Martial Law, as well as writing many episodes of the USA Network series Monk, and co-creating Mystery 101.
As confirmed by Deadline, The Walk is being produced by Robert Kulzer of Constantin Film and Monella Kaplan of eMotion Entertainment. Robert Kulzer said: “Lee’s adaptation of his own novel is a brilliant exploration of the human condition by using the ‘Big One’ as a backdrop to create unforgettable moments of hair-raising tragicomedy”. Constantin’s Alex Westmore and Colin Scully are the creative executives.
