Sources had speculated earlier this month that Dope actress Kiersey Clemons might be joining Warner Bros.’ The Flash movie in the lead female role. It has now been confirmed, according to Entertainment Weekly, that the rising star is officially joining the red blur on his big screen crusade.
She will be joining star Ezra Miller (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) who made an appearance earlier this year in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The character will also be seen in the Justice League movie, which revealed its first teaser at Comic-Con last week. Little is known about the plot thus far, but we do know that Clemons will be playing the role of Iris West, Barry Allen’s (The Flash) longtime friend and growing love interest.
This casting will reunite Clemons with her Dope director Rick Fumuyiwa who took over the project after Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride & Prejudice & Zombies writer) left the DC film, citing creative differences. The Flash is slated for release on March 16, 2018 and will begin filming sometime this year.
Clemons first got her start with co-starring parts on MTV’s Eye Candy, the Extant series starring Halle Berry, and on the Emmy-winning series Transparent. Her breakout role came in last year’s Sundance hit Dope. She recently co-starred alongside Chloe Grace Moretz in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising. She is currently filming the Flatliners remake with Nina Dobrev (TV’s The Vampire Diaries) and Ellen Page (Juno).
