Close, a new action thriller led by actress Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series), has added three new actors and actresses to its cast: Indira Varma (Game of Thrones, Exodus: Gods and Kings), Eoin Macken (The Night Shift, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter), and Sophie Nelisse (The Book Thief, The Great Gilly Hopkins). Filming will begin in the United Kingdom and Morocco soon, according to Deadline.
Close is inspired by Jacqui Davis, considered one of the most highly regarded female bodyguards, with the film focusing on bodyguard Sam (played by Rapace) who has experience with protecting people in battlefields and warzones. She is hired to keep an heiress named Zoe safe. A botched kidnapping attempt made on Zoe causes the two to go off the grid, where they form a surprising friendship as they try to discover who attacked them. Sam’s old co-worker Conall (Macken) assists them in their mission.
Vicky Jewson (Lady Godiva, Born of War) is directing the film, with a script written by her and Rupert Whitaker, who has worked on just about every one of Jewson’s films. We are excited to see what this film will bring to the table and what it will challenge, with an almost fully-female cast and a current unknown release date, but we can expect sometime next year or in 2019.
