The infamous fairytale Cinderella has had numerous adaptations in different countries over the years, and 2021 has yet another version in store. Kay Cannon’s (Pitch Perfect, New Girl) film will star singer Camila Cabello as Cinderella in her theatrical debut. With singers such as Lady Gaga making their way into the film industry, it will be interesting to see how Cabello portrays Cinderella. The star-studded cast also includes Billy Porter as the genderless fairy godparent Fab G, Idina Menzel as Cinderella’s stepmother Vivian, and actor Nicholas Galitzine as the prince.

Other actors that will appear in the film include Pierce Brosnan, Minnie Driver, John Mulaney, James Corden and Missy Elliott. According to Movie Web, the film is said to be a musical romantic comedy, as both Cabello and Menzel have extremely impressive vocals, and both will have original songs in the film. Cabello made her way into the spotlight at fifteen years old when she joined The X Factor, and formed the extremely popular girl group Fifth Harmony, before she started a solo career. Menzel is a Broadway performer and may be most known for her role as Elsa in Frozen.

The film wrapped filming in September 2020 and is set to be released in theaters February 5th, 2021.
